HEO JUN

Name : HEO JUN

Explanation : He was a doctor of SunJo and GwangHaeGun in the middle age of JoSun. In 1610, he'd completed his work of making a book called DongEuiBoGam which presented such a great influence to the improvement of the traditional Oriental medicine science of Josun. He never left SunJo as a doctor of him in ImJinWaehRan(1592) when SunJo went to EuiJu to take shelter. He cured GwangHaeGun in 1596. Let me introduce one episode of him. The time when he was going to take an exam called GwaGeo(the state examination during the JoSun Dynasty), only 4 days were left. He had enough ability to pass the test but he couldn't make it because he was not in the place of exam as he was curing patients in a village. He didn't hesitate to be there as he thought the genuine doctor is who cures others when others need his help. We can feel his passion and sublime in this episode.

JANG YEONG SIL

Name : JANG YEONG SIL

Explanation : JANG YEONG SIL was a son of 妓生(GI SAENG, a singing and dancing girl of JoSun, as same as the concept of a Geisha girl). That is, he was a male servant automatically. So he had been laughed at by the neighborhood friends a lot, but he overcamedsuch problem by presenting them toys made by him. He had such a great talent of it. He was sent to a government office of Josun, though, as he was a son of GI SAENG. But he overcamed it once again by displaying his talent and it was connected to the ears of SE JONG DAE WANG(SE JONG the great king). So he became to get an opportunity to meet him for himself. He was trusted by the king so he worked as a great scientist of Josun by the time of senescence. He invented so many things-I'll introduce them in other postings. After all, he was punished because of his fault that he made a palankeen for the king weak. But we don't know how he was dead. It's not come to light.

YI SUN SIN

Name : YI SUN SIN
(1545~1598)

Wars :

1. OC PO sea-war

It happened on May 7th in 1592. It's a sea-war that the naval forces which YI SUN SIN general commanded fought with those of Japan which 藤堂高虎(dodo dakatora) commanded and succeeded to defend Josun(the name of Korea at that time).

2. DANG HANG PO sea-war

It happened from 5th to 6th on June in 1592 and on March 4th in 1594-total 2. The naval forces which YI SUN SIN general commanded won the battle with Japanese navy greatly.

3. HAN SAN DO the sweeping victory

It's a battle which happened on July 7th in 1592 that defeated Japanese Navy excellently at the open sea of HANSANDO. The strategy he used is handed down as a legend. Its name is 'HAK IK JIN.'

4. MYUNG RYANG the sweeping victory

It's a battle which happened on September in 1597 that had a war called JungYuJaeRan(JungYu re-war) with Japanese navy.He overthrew Michihusa(來島道總) and Dodo Dakatora(藤堂高虎) with their 31 ships.

5. NO RYANG sea-war

It's the last battle happened on november 19th in 1598 at the open sea of NO RYANG between JoSun navy commanded by YI SUN SIN general and Japanese navy.It made the war end continued about 7 years between JoSun and Japan, and sadly, YI SUN SIN general went to meet death in battle by a bullet.

Jung Yak Yong

Name : JUNG YAK YONG

Simple Explanation : At the last age of Josun, western science technology has entered into Korea via Chung, China. Though most of government officials were just interested in a desk theory, not a real theory, so they excluded practical science without reserve. However, Jung Yak Yong was waked up about it and his thought is reveled with the expression of 'Knowledge can't have any values until it's been a help into real life of the nation and at that time, it'll be alive.' He's like a mountain with practical science of Josun. He'd studied it in his whole life and practiced it really. He'd went through banishment by villainous retainers, though. But as a result, he's estimated as a great scholor who had excelled the age if you learn him with his achievements day after day, year after year.
